The Gladly celebrates its 5th anniversary with $1 chopped salad

Phoenix restaurant The Gladly celebrates its 5th anniversary and will offer fans 5 days of food and drink specials to celebrate. Kicking off Monday September 10th guests will be able to enjoy the popular Chopped Salad for $1 followed by these special below.

Monday, Sept. 10 – Enjoy $1 Original Chopped Salads (dine-in only; dinner service only; limit one per table).

Tuesday, Sept. 11 – Enjoy 50-percent off all draft cocktails including The Gladly Manhattan, Moscow Mule, Spiced Daiquiri, Penicillin, Thai Margarita and Aperol Spritz.

Wednesday, Sept. 12 – Enjoy $1 oysters during happy hour and dinner service.

Thursday, Sept. 13 – Enjoy $10 bottles of rosé.

Friday, Sept. 14 – Enjoy a special, signature dish from The Gladly’s Scottsdale sister restaurant, Citizen Public House, for one night only.

If you can’t make in during the week, stop in anytime during the month for a celebratory cocktail for only $5 created just for the anniversary.

Rose All Day Happy Hour at The Thirsty Camel starts May 29th

With so much to see at luxurious Phoenican Resort in Scottsdale you may not realize they have fantastic lobby bar, The Thirsty Camel. Locals looking to escape the heat with a refreshing cocktail, sangria or glass of rose should plan to spend some time at The Thirsty Camel this summer as they start their all day happy hour from 2 p.m. -11 p.m.

Whether you choose to lounge out on the terrace or inside from May 29th until August 31st guests of the AAA 5 Diamond resort can sip on one of my favorite roses, Spain’s Muga or the sparkling Piper Sonoma rose for only $10 a glass or 20% off a bottle.

Prefer a cold beer, sip on Dos Equis , Corona or other beers for only $5. House made red, white or rose Summer Sangria are part of the revolving cocktail list created for the summer. A glass of sangria is $12.

Grab a bite to eat

You can’t have happy hour without a bite to eat and a variety of Sonoran style bites including Carne Asada Quesadilla made with Hanger steak and Grilled Artichoke Flatbread topped with Morel mushrooms, spring onion, pea and Stinging Nettle hot sauce are just a couple of bites available.

Beckett’s Table is tickled pink for National Rosé Week

Sipping on a chilled  glass of rosé wine is a year round activity in Arizona with our mild and dry climate. When it gets hot here in the desert rosé taste even better with its refreshing and medium bodied character.  The Arcadia neighborhoods Beckett’s Table has always known #ItsOK2DrinkPInk and will be celebrating the lighter bodied pink wine during National Rosé Week, June 6th-11th.

Is Zinfandel Rose the same as White Zinfandel?

With the increasing popularity of rose wine in the last few years, I wondered if zinfandel rose’s are the same as white zinfandel. Are some wineries using the word “rose” to distance themselves from white zinfandel drinkers and white zinfandel’s reputation. Are they true roses’ with more complexity and tannins than white zinfandel?

White zinfandel’s tend to use “free run” juice, just using the weight of grapes on top & not getting skin contact and tannins from the skins. Rose’s get their complexity and character from the skin and tannins.

If you call it a ‘Rose of Zinfandel” is it bad marketing and/or too confusing?
