Pretzel Fest every Wednesday at Pedal Haus Brewery

The local brew pub with locations in downtown Phoenix, downtown Chandler and downtown Tempe couldn’t wait til Oktoberfest to feature their new Bavarian Board. Each board includes charcuterie meats, olives, a large Bavarian pretzel, beer cheese, maple butter, haus mustard and 2 beers for $16. Upgrade the beers to a Stein for $20 or a bottle of Haus wine for $25.

Hearth ’61 now offers a vegan tasting menu

Chef de Cuisine Alfred Muro has created a 4-course vegetable focused menu at the Mountain Shadows Resort’s signature restaurant. The menu consists of Celeriac Salad, Parsnip Confit with curry chickpea stew, a Roasted Portobello Mushroom with eggplant cous cous and a Strawberry Lemon Tart with ginger meringue. The menu is available all year long and is $89 plus tax & gratuity.

Society by EVO opening in Tempe

A new restaurant from Nick Neuman and his partners is coming to Tempe in February. The late night upscale dining experience restaurant is looking to hire 50 people and is having a hiring fair today, Friday January 28th from 12 noon til 4 p.m. at EVO on Goldwater Blvd. in Scottsdale. Interested applicants can also send Nick a resume to nickneuman@evoscottsdale.com. The restaurant will be in The Cornerstone at Rural and University and will be open from 4 p.m. – 2 a.m.

The Mexicano now serving lunch

The new restaurant from Joey Maggiore is now serving lunch 7 days a week starting at 11 a.m. The made from scratch Mexican cuisine restaurant in northeast Phoenix offers a build your own Michelada bar along with agave based cocktails to go along with your Guacamole and Salsa Ferris Wheel, tacos made with blue corn tortillas, lava rock fajitas and a three foot long quesadilla. On weekends rotating DJs play Latin music to enhance the vibrant atmosphere.

The Crepe Club celebrates National Crepe Day

Next Wednesday February 2nd get a free Nutella or Parisian (butter & sugar) crepe at the Scottsdale Fashion Square (in the food court) location from 9 – 11 a.m.

Foch Café & Bistro opens in Tempe

A new hip bistro opened in downtown Tempe recently serving American & European inspired cuisine and cocktails. Foch CafĂ© & Bistro pays tribute to the street in Paris that Fares Tarabichi’s grandparents used to live on. “I am so proud of my French education and visiting my grandparents in Paris every summer made me truly appreciate the beautiful French culture.” says Tarabichi, co-founder of Foch CafĂ© & Bistro. “Foch honors both the memory of my amazing grandparents, as well as French culture.”

Tarabichi and partner Chef Timothy Richardson are no strangers to the Phoenix restaurant scene as Tarabichi founded The CrĂŞpe Cafe and co-founded The Bodhi and AZ Liquids. Arizona native Richardson attended Le Cordon Bleu where learned French cooking techniques. For 16 years since he’s worked in several different restaurants from cantinas to fine dining. Before opening Foch CafĂ© & Bistro he was senior sous chef at the Arizona Biltmore.

“As a chef, it has always been a dream of mine to open a restaurant and I am excited to share delectable French inspired cuisine with the wonderful residents and visitors of Tempe.” said Richardson, co-founder of Foch Café & Bistro. “Foch is an open, bright and happy space for people to gather and celebrate community once again.”

The bistro offers a full menu for dine-in of hot & cold paninis, salads, freshly baked pastries, a coffee bar and to-go items from Foch Market. CrĂŞpes are featured on the menu and can be paired with unique flavors of gelato. The craft cocktail menu includes cocktails made with house made fresh juices along with local craft beers.

The Crepe Club wants you to create their new crepe flavor

Attention all creative foodies & home cooks this one is for you as The Crepe Club is looking for your help to create a new crepe flavor. The contest will run from April 10th – May 31st allowing plenty of time to think of what flavor(s) you would like to submit.

“Crepes have been a family tradition,” said The Crepe Club co-owner Fares Tarabichi. “Every Sunday my brothers and I would cook them for our parents. And each week we would try to out-do each other with the filling combinations. This contest is a way to share that love of crepes with our guests.”

The winner gets

And what does the lucky winner get, bragging rights of course and your winning flavor will be on menu with you and your family & friends enjoying a crepe party. Crepes can be either sweet or savory and will be judged based on creativity, taste and if it can be made in a restaurant setting.

How to enter

  • Visit The Crepe Club website at http://TheCrepeClub.com/contest from April 10 – May 31 and submit your crepe flavor idea. You will need to submit a short description of the crepe including the ingredients and name your crepe.
  • On June 1, The Crepe Club will reveal the Top 7 nominations and ask people to vote on which flavor name and description they like best on The Crepe Club website.  Voting will run from June 1 – 15.
  • Then it gets really fun. The Top 3 vote getters will have their crepes on the menu at The Crepe Club’s three locations from June 16 – June 25.
  • On June 26 the top seller will be crowned the winning crepe flavor. The winner will receive a crepe party for 20 people. Second place will receive a $100 Crepe Club gift card. Good luck!

The camp is available for kids ages 8-12 and is $60 per child. AAWL is hosting this special one-day camp to help show kids how to give back to animals and the community.
