Round up for Eric Marsh Found. at Bill’s Grill & Red, White & Brew

A somber day is approaching as the 12th anniversary of the 19 firefighers of the Granite Mountain Hotshots who lost their lives fighting the Yarnell Fire near Prescott on June 30th, 2013. Two of Prescott’s favorite restaurants, Bill’s Grill and Red, White & Brew are honoring their lives with fundraisers in June for the Eric Marsh Foundation for Wildland Firefighters.

The Prescott non-profit helps wildfire firefighters and their families through financial and emotional support as many firefighters are volunteering to protect the Arizona wilderness. The Foundation is named after and is the legacy of the Granite Mountain Hotshots Superintendent.

“This cause is deeply personal to the Prescott community and to anyone who understands the risks wildland firefighters take every time they go out,” said Bill Toole, owner of POV Foods. “We want to keep their legacy alive and support the families and crews who continue to serve with the same dedication.”

Throughout June, guests can round up their checks with the proceeds benefiting the Foundation. On Monday, June 30th both restaurants will donate $1 of each specially created burger sold to the foundation as well. The month-long fundraiser also helps in remembering the bravery of the 19 firefighters, so they’re never forgotten.

Burgers for the Eric Marsh Foundation

At Bill’s Grill guests can order the Valor burger or the Five Alarm Chili Size burger and the Hot Shot burger at Red, White & Brew.

The Five Alarm Chili Size burger features a brioche bun stacked with a juicy patty, house made chili, ghost pepper cheese, fried jalapeños and chipotle aioli.

The Valor burger keeps it classic with cheddar, ketchup-based Valor sauce, red onion, lettuce, tomato and pickle.

The Hot Shot burger features a half-pound patty topped with poblano peppers, pepper jack cheese, onion tanglers and poblano crema, served on a brioche bun with lettuce, tomato, pickle, red onion and a choice of one side.

Swizzle Inn joins POV Foods portfolio of bars and restaurants

Midtown Phoenix’s Swizzle Inn changed ownership last month, and its new owners are no strangers to running local bars and restaurants. POV Foods took over the neighborhood dive bar that opened in 1996 tucked into a corner of a strip mall at 5835 N. 16th St. The windowless bar with nautical touches is known for its holiday lights glowing year-round and its “No Starbucks Parking” sign out front.

“The Swizzle Inn is the neighborhood’s living room,” said Bill Toole, owner of POV Foods. “It’s a place people come to unwind, share a story, shoot some pool. We’re not here to change that, we’re here to honor it and keep the doors open for the next generation of regulars.”

POV Foods was founded in 2014 with plans to maintain and revitalize Arizona local haunts in the Phoenix and Prescott area. They also own Scottsdale’s Rusty Spur Saloon that has been pouring drinks since 1951, Mesa and Prescott’s Red, White & Brew, 32 Shea in Phoenix, Lakeside Bar & Grill in Peoria and Bill’s Grill in Prescott.

No changes coming to Swizzle Inn

There are no plans to change anything at the Swizzle Inn under the new ownership as the same smiling faces pouring your drinks, daily $2 brown bag special shots, the “catch of the day” and Wednesday night trivia will all continue.

“We’re not some big corporation coming in to rebrand or remodel,” said Annie Gaillard, General Manager of the Swizzle Inn and POV’s beverage director. “We’re local folks who believe in the power of community, and we plan to carry on the Swizz’s tradition of being a spot where everyone feels welcome.” The “come as you are” bar is open daily from 10 a.m. – 2 a.m.

 

 

Lakeside Bar & Grill unveils a new look and new menu

With the Northwest Valley seeing a boom in new locally owned restaurants, Lakeside Bar & Grill has been serving guests since 2008. The owners figured 2024 would be a good time to do some renovations and make the popular hangout more inviting. The new modern look comes just as the restaurant rolls out a new menu of appetizers, sandwiches, cocktails and more.

The newly redesigned Lakeside Bar & Grill has removed and lowered walls for a more open feel, exposed the brick walls, installed new modern light fixtures and new floors. New state-of-the-art TVs have been installed around the restaurant and more seating options are available. New windows will allow for more natural light to show off the new features.

What’s new on the menu at Lakeside Bar & Grill

Don’t worry customer favorite wings, burgers and the all-you-can-eat-Friday-Fish-Fry are still available, but guests will notice new dishes throughout the menu. “We’re excited to share these new creations with our guests,” said Bill Toole, owner of POV Foods, the restaurant group that owns and operates Lakeside Bar & Grill. “We aim to deliver fresh, flavorful dishes that our community will love, and we believe these new specials are a perfect reflection of that.”

New to the appetizer section is two new flavors of wings, Zesty Lemon Pepper and a fiery tropical heat rub. Buffalo Shrimp is spicy and the Lakeside Ribs offer a half rack in a sweet heat sauce. For seafood lovers there’s the new Shoreline Calamari, hand breaded and served with lemon and house-made remoulade sauce.

Burger lovers will want to wrap their hands around the new double meat patty Smash Burger. New sandwiches include The Cuban, Shrimp Po’ Boy with beer battered shrimp & garlic caper remoulade and the Chipolte Chicken Sandwich.

Those looking for entrees will see the new Sweet Heat Shrimp Bowl, Tuscan Chicken Pasta, Crispy Roasted Chicken and Shrimp Skewers on the menu. The cocktail menu has also gotten a fresh look with new margaritas and more. Sizzlin’ Strawberry Pineapple and the Blueberry Coconut Blast margaritas join Mama’s Root Beer Martini and XO Espresso Martini as a few of the new cocktails.

The family friendly sports bar has also added Whiskey Wednesday as a daily special. All day you get $5 off Bulleit, Jameson and Bulleit Rye cocktails and $2 off all burgers.
