Scoopwell’s Dough Bar’s grand opening offers FREE dough for a year

After finding loyal fans for their cookie dough Scoopwell’s Dough Bar is opening Saturday January 12th at Phoenix’s Uptown Plaza. Kendra and John Scheer started Scoopwell’s Dough Bar in early 2018 as a pop-up at Tempe Public Market Cafe. The pop-up was a success selling out and the husband and wife team decided to open a permanent store front.

“We can’t wait to open in Uptown Plaza,” said Kendra Scheer. “Whether you checked us out earlier this year, or you’ve never tried edible cookie dough before, we promise to save you something sweet.”

Scoopwells’ offer 11 different dough flavors and even more sweet toppings. Gourmet flavors include Lemon Poppyseed, Brownie Batter and Rainbow Sprinkle are made from scratch. Delicious seasonal flavors and other year round favorites will be served. Mix-in Twix bars, peanut butter chips, pretzels and others for even more enjoyment.

When the doors open at 10:00 a.m. sharp the first 50 people in line will get Free Dough For A Year. The punch card they receive will be good for 1 small cup of dough a month. If you’re not one of the first 50, you’ll receive a free collectible gift and entered to win an Uptown Plaza gift bag.

Phoenix area restaurants salute veterans on Veteran’s Day

I’ve met a few veterans in my travels and in addition to loving the red, white and blue they love to eat. On Veteran’s Day, Saturday November 11th several Phoenix area restaurants are saluting active and retired military personnel with discounted or free food. Here is a list of who and what is being offered.

Fired Pie

In support of veterans both active and retired, Fired Pie will be offering a free entrée to all vets who show their ID or are in uniform.

Miracle Mile Deli

All veterans both active and retired will receive 10% off their purchase by letting Miracle Mile Deli know they are a veteran at the register.

Miracle Mile Deli has been a staple in the Valley for 68 years. The locally owned restaurant is at 4433 N. 16th Street in Phoenix.

Famous Dave’s BBQ

Famous Dave’s Bar-B-Que in Phoenix would like to thank all former and current Military personnel for their dedication and commitment to our country by offering a FREE “Two Meat Salute.” Hours are 11 am to 11 pm.

FREE Barbecue sandwiches at Joe’s Real BBQ in exchange for food donations

To give is to receive they say and Joe’s Real BBQ in Gilbert is hoping to give away 5,000 FREE pulled pork or chicken sandwiches hoping to receive cans of food (hopefully fruit) or boxed cereal donations for the Open Arms Care Center.

It’s all part of Joe’s 17 year tradition of its annual Free Barbecue Day next Wed. May 3rd as owners Joe Johnson and Tim & Tad Peelen give back to the community and their loyal customers. The trio has given away over 77,000 meals since over the years as part of their Customer Appreciation Days which happen several times a year.

As you can imagine giving away 5,000 sandwiches is no small task so a few simple rules apply. Meals will be served from 11 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

  • Only one meal per person
  • Must be present to receive free meal
  • No take out
  • No other menu items will be offered

Those attending this popular event will be served a delicious meal of

  • Choice of a pulled pork or chicken breast sandwich
  • Fresh homemade coleslaw, BBQ Pit Beans, and a drink.

Open Arms Care Center food drive

Food donations are not required to get a free meal  but they are encouraged as an opportunity to help the Open Arms Care Center which helps those in need. Open Arms is a Gilbert based non-profit and all volunteer center and neighbor of Joe’s Real BBQ that provides food and clothing to the homeless and less fortunate. Free cheese for outdoor diners at The Melting Pot

The calendar says it’s the end of October but the day time temperatures still feel as if it were May, regardless The Melting Pot is getting ready for the cooler temperatures by offering Free cheese from 5pm-7pm on Wed. Nov. 2nd –  Sun. Nov. 6th. Those customers willing to sit on the outdoor patio at 2 Arizona locations will receive 1 free cheese for dipping. Patio tables are available on a first come, first serve basis. The restaurant offers a variety of cheeses including Wisconsin Cheddar and Bacon Gorgonzola.
