Z’ Tejas launches new Winter seasonal menu

The southwestern restaurant’s Executive Chef Diego Bolanos launched his new seasonal menu this week at at their Scottsdale and Chandler restaurants. 8 dishes were added and include Roasted Butternut Squash Soup, Chipolte Short Ribs, Achiote Shrimp Alfredo Pasta and Ginger Apple Cheesecake with a house made churro.

La Canasta Mexican Foods celebrates 60 years of Arizona’s best tortillas

The maker of My Nana’s Best Tasting Tortilla Chips started in 1962 by Richard & Carmen Abril and today makes 2.5 million chips daily. The Phoenix based company is run by Josie Ippolito, daughter of the founders and the chips can be found throughout Arizona and western states, The company is known not only for its chips but also for being a successful Hispanic and women owned business.

Sedona chef releases second cook book

Chef and restaurant owner Lisa Dahl releases her second cookbook, “A Romance with Food” on February 1st. The cookbook features 91 recipes and over 150 photos of Latin fusion dishes from her restaurant, Mariposa. Dahl owns 5 restaurants in Sedona and the cookbook offers recipes from salads to main dishes to desserts. Follow this link to pre-order your copy.

Kaleidoscope Juice expanding to The Shops at Gainey Ranch

A food lovers life can’t always be about cheeseburgers, pizza and bacon. Healthy food helps to cleanse the body and your mind so we can continue to eat the guilty pleasures. Fortunately there is Kaleidoscope Juice which is opening their newest location at The Shops in Gainey Ranch in Scottsdale. Opening in October, the 1,000 square foot store will offer an all organic menu of cold pressed juices, salads, sandwiches, protein bowl and more.

“We are delighted to open this new, beautiful location in the neighborhood where I started the company delivering juices to people’s homes,” said Alexandra Maw, founder and owner of Kaleidoscope Juice. “We believe in the vibrancy of Kaleidoscope and look forward to sharing our passion for healthy, healing foods with the Scottsdale community.

Another location will open soon after as the health and wellness company continues to expand from its current four locations.

The ingredients and recipes are scientifically proven to help with specific dietary needs and deficiencies. The menu is attractive to people with different diets including Keto and gluten-free. Ingredients are locally sourced when possible.

Brook McGregor, co-owner and COO and master’s degree candidate in Human Nutrition and Functional Medicine added, “We are excited to expand our menu outside the normal fruit and vegetable combinations. Our new smoothies are intentionally crafted providing a myriad of healthy fat compositions, hormone maintenance blends and cognitive support.”

German Osio’s Kale & Clover: Mindful Kitchen to open soon in north Scottsdale

The newest entry into the Scottsdale restaurant scene will be Kale & Clover: Mindful Kitchen from Osio Culinary Group. It will be the 4th restaurant from restaurateur German Osio which include Central Bistro in Phoenix, SumoMaya & Local Bistro in Scottsdale. Kale and Clover will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and will feature clean and healthy food and drinks available to dine in or carry out making it convenient for all.

Chris Mayo will be executive chef and be moving up north from Central Bistro and has spent the last few months planning the mostly vegetarian, vegan and gluten free menu. Diners will have the option to add protein if they like.

“We are using responsibly-sourced, seasonal ingredients and have taken special care to focus on nutritional balance and flavor,” Mayo said. “It has been a treat to work on Kale & Clover’s menu, to sink into the taste of the high-quality ingredients we have selected and combine them in complementary ways so that the food pops with flavor.”

A few of the menu’s signature dishes include…
· Superfood salad: kale, romaine hearts, shaved local vegetables, avocado, almonds, apricots, lemon dressing.

· Faux Pho: red miso shiitake broth, rice noodles, tofu, Thai basil, sprouts, chilies, lime.

· Avocado summer roll: pickled veggies, mint, house made sambas.

· Caramelized cauliflower: caper-raisin jam, lentils, local carrots, curry vinaigrette.

· Seared Salmon: red quinoa, marinated cherry tomatoes, avocado, light herb vinaigrette

Cold pressed juices, agave sweetened drinks and espresso drinks will be available along with craft beers and wines.

“My hope is that Kale & Clover makes it easier for people to eat healthily. Our menu is chef-crafted, so it will appeal to everyone—even those who shy away from healthy ingredients,’’ Osio said. “We offer breakfast, lunch and dinner so that the option for clean food is always available. And our grab-and-go and eat-in components are intended to provide utmost convenience.”

Kale & Clover: Mindful Kitchen will be located at 20511 N. Hayden Road at Hayden Peak Crossing in Scottsdale, the same shopping plaza as Osio’s sister restaurant, Local Bistro. Kale & Clover will be open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
