Tamales ToGo at Diego Pops and Eat Up, Drive In for the holidays

Both restaurants in Scottsdale and Arcadia are taking orders for red and green tamales by the dozen starting today. Choose from red beef machaca or green chili chicken along with sides of rice & beans. Tamales can be ordered online at both restaurants through the holidays.

Diego Pops is also serving a Tamale Plate (see photo above) for those looking to dine-in. Each plate comes with two tamales topped with black beans, corn queso, pickled onion, fresno pepper and cabbage. The tamales come served with a side of rice and beans. All tamales are in limited availability so get your orders in early.

PHX Beer Co. collaborates with Carefree Spirits Distillery for Long Exposure

The Phoenix brewer’s newest beer is the Bourbon Barrel Aged Long Exposure, an imperial stout aged in used bourbon barrels. A light maple syrup sweetness moves into dry, wooden flavor that is best served warmed in the glass. The flavors are pleasant without being overpowering.

Grimaldi’s Pizzeria adds weekday lunch slices to the menu

If you follow me on Instagram lately you know I love a good slice of pizza or two and now I(we) can get a giant slice of coal fired brick oven pizza for only $9.99. Available Monday – Friday from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. the slice is paired with a salad and a soda or iced tea. This is the first time the local pizzeria has offered slices.

White Castle opens 2nd Arizona location in Tempe

The Ohio based and family owned restaurant with a cult like following for its sliders opened its newest location this week in Tempe. The Warner & I-10 location comes 4 years after opening their first location in Scottsdale off Loop 101 at Via de Ventura.

New restaurants opening in 2024

We’ve still got a pretty busy month of December ahead of us before we roll into 2024 but new restaurant openings are being announced.

Salt & Lime Modern Mexican Grill will be opening its 2nd location in early 2024 at 44th St. & Camelback Rd. Once opened the new location will offer the same menu and daily specials such as Margarita Mondays, Taco Tuesdays and Senorita Saturdays as well as their over the top holiday pop-up Feliz Navidad Cantina as the Scottsdale location.

Portillo’s announced the opening of its 8th Arizona location next year in Surprise. The Illinois based maker of Chicago style hot dogs, Italian beef sandwiches and more hasn’t announced when it will open but it expects it to be later in the year. Once opened at Prasada Pkwy. & Alexandria Way the restaurant will seat more than 180 people inside another 50 on the patio.
