Barro’s Pizza re-opening popular North Phoenix location
After almost a yearlong re-model the 40th St & Greenway location re-opens on Tuesday, July 18th. Customers were disappointed by the closing of the neighborhood pizza shop but will be thrilled with the re-model. Opened in 1991, the re-model was long overdue according to co-owner Mike Barro. The floor to ceiling makeover includes a new modern look with an open dining area, larger kitchen & ordering area and new bathrooms. The look is in a modern Chicago style with wood and metal accents.
3rd Tuesday, 3 course, 3 wine dinner at Romeo’s Euro Cafe
Chef & owner Romeo Taus doesn’t let the summer heat stop him from cooking up good food. Next Tuesday, July 18th is the next in his monthly prie-fixe wine dinner series at his downtown Gilbert restaurant. Wines from California, Argentina & Italy will be paired with Apertifs, Pork & Elote and Coconut Macaroon Sandwich for only $44. For reservations call 480-962-4224.
$8 Sonoran Dogs at Barrio Brewery for National Hot Dog Day
On Wednesday, July 19th the Mesa brewery serves up its popular hot dog that comes wrapped in bacon, grilled then topped with pinto beans, grilled onions, diced tomato, mustard and chipolte mayo. Regularly $10 it comes with your choice of French fries or cottage cheese and served with yellow hot peppers on request. This dog of a deal is available all day for dine-in or take-out.
Thirsty Lion rolls out new breakfast dishes
The gastropub that serves up scratch made food is rolling out 5 new breakfast dishes at all 4 Phoenix area locations. Starting tomorrow Saturday, July 15th from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. then every Saturday and Sunday guests can enjoy sweet & savory offerings. The new dishes include Cinnamon Sugar Donut Holes, Breakfast Tacos, Classic Fried Egg & Bacon Sandwich, Kimchi Fried Rice & Eggs and a Southern Fried Chicken Benedict. The dishes are priced between $9.95 – $16.95 and new summer cocktails will also be introduced.
Bar Cena to take over Vanilla Gorillia spot
Last month Dom Ruggerio and his Cast Iron Concepts announced he would be shutting down the popular taproom and bottle shop next to his Hush Public House. He’s now announced the details of the new cocktail and dining lounge set to open later in the year. The chef driven menu and vibrant cocktail program will have French, Spanish and Italian influences on the rotating seasonal menu. Hush General Manager Regina Di Salvo and Executive Chef Alex Harrison will be leading the development of Bar Cena and Chef de Cuisine Zach Meyers is creating the food menu. Early menu ideas include Mufuletta Croquettes, Mussels Escabechie and Crispy Potato Pave with Duck Fat & Rouille.
