The Serrano family continue to honor the memory of their sister, aunt and co-owner Stephanie Serrano as they have every October since she past away from breast cancer a few years back. With October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month they donate a portion of the proceeds from this month’s food specials at all 4 locations and their newly opened Pronto by Serrano’s to local non-profit Check for a Lump. Saturday the 21st brings the return of the fifth annual “Pink Out” at all east valley locations.
“We are honored and extremely grateful to the Serrano family for hosting their ‘Pink Out’ again this year in memory of Stephanie and choosing Check for a Lump as the benefiting charity! Family and community go hand in hand, and by participating in the ‘Pink Out’ fundraiser at Serrano’s and Pronto you are helping our local community in the fight against breast cancer. We couldn’t do it without all of you and the wonderful Serrano family! Stephanie’s legacy will continue to live on through all our hearts, and stomachs, with every dish served,” said Ashley Plum, executive director of Check for a Lump.
On the 21st guests wearing pink receive a free order of pink sprinkled buñuelos at Serrano’s or a free serving of pink fried ice cream at Pronto in Tempe. At the downtown Chandler Serrano’s location Check for a Lump will have their mobile mammography testing RV parked out back from 7-11 a.m. for free testing. Those looking to schedule a free mammography can call 602-688-5232 or online.
“We all miss Stephanie and know that she would be proud of us aligning with a nonprofit like Check for a Lump to provide life-saving education and testing for breast cancer,” said Ric Serrano, CEO of Serrano’s Mexican Restaurants. “Anything we can do to help prevent other families from facing this battle is worthy of our support. We are also privileged to have the mobile mammography unit back at our Chandler location again this year.”
