Pomelo at The Orchard now serving brunch

Pomelo , the full service restaurant at The Orchard in Phoenix is now serving brunch on weekends. Don’t worry you can still get non-breakfast menu items such as Grass Fed Burgers and Wood Fired Wings and more. The Brunch menu is being served Sat. and Sun. from 10am-4pm.

Brunch menu items

Below are a few new items to the brunch menu.

Breakfast Pizza – Tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, Schreiner’s sausage, peppers, onions, grilled potatoes and two sunny eggs

Migas – Spicy combination of eggs scrambled with jalapeños, chipotle, chorizo, red bell peppers, tortilla chips, mozzarella and fire roasted salsa, served with corn tortillas and grilled potatoes

 Veggie Omelet – 3-egg omelet with sautéed mushroom, roasted pepper, asparagus, zucchini, garlic and tomatoes topped with feta and herbs

 Biscuits and Gravy – Warm buttermilk biscuits topped with sausage gravy and two sunny eggs served with grilled potatoes

Pomelo Benedict – Poached eggs and shaved black forest ham on buttermilk biscuits topped with hollandaise served with grilled potatoes

Florentine Benedict – Poached eggs, sautéed spinach and tomato on a toasted English muffin topped with hollandaise served with grilled potatoes

Chilaquiles – Crispy corn tostadas with scrambled eggs, smoked pulled pork braised in tomatoes, onions, cilantro, green chili, and mozzarella cheese topped with fire roasted salsa and sour cream

Pomelo is part of the 2 acre venue, The Orchard on 12th St. north of Glendale Ave and is housed in a 1920s styled Arizona Territorial House. The property used to be a citrus farm in the early 1900s with more than 80 citrus trees. The 30 foot water tower that was surrounded by the trees still stands at the center of the property. Outdoor dining is available on one of several patios surrounding the restaurant. Catering and private rooms for special events.

Fired Pie celebrates National Cheese Pizza Day & supports No Kid Hungry campaign.

As Americans we love our pizza, some of us more than others, so much so we eat about 350 slices of pizza per second. Fired Pie

La Bocca Urban Kitchen + Wine Bar and Modern Margarita opens in downtown Chandler

Downtown Chandler continues to become a dining destination in the southeast valley as La Bocca Urban Kitchen + Wine Bar and its sister restaurant Modern Margarita brings its pizza, tacos, cocktails and tequilas to the former Coach & Willie’s space on the SE corner of Chandler Blvd. and Boston St. last week. I had the opportunity to preview menu items and cocktails from both restaurants and enjoyed everything.

This is the 3rd location for La Bocca Urban Kitchen and 2nd Modern Margarita in the Phoenix area for Mill Avenue Management Group. Both menus are under the direction of head chef Jared Cummings

Updated: Clever Koi brings Asian style cuisine and cocktails to Gilbert on Nov. 11th

Update: Opening is set for Friday, November 11th.

One of Phoenix’s favorite Asian style restaurants is bringing it’s classic Asian dishes with modern twists and craft cocktails to downtown Gilbert as Clever Koi announced it will open in September. Clever Koi’s new location will be housed in the bricked Heritage Marketplace building where Gilbert Rd. meets Vaughn Ave.

Modern decor

The new restaurant will have a modern Asian decor with large glass windows, an open floor plan for the dining room and bar and a sliding glass door leading to the outdoor patio along Gilbert Ave. The exposition kitchen will allow customer to see and smell the aromas of executive chef Jared Porter’s Asian creations. The decor will have Asian style accents along with modern colors showing off Gilbert’s rustic roots. Custom tile art installations will be made by Matt Noakes of Rain Made Design in Phoenix.

Cuisine and Cocktails

Chef Porter’s menu will include the bold flavors of Asian style rice bowls, house made dumplings, steamed buns, noodles and more. The seasonal menu incorporates flavors, styles and cooking techniques found in countries such as Thailand, China, Korea, Vietnam and beyond. To compliment the flavorful food Clever Koi’s Beverage Director/Partner Joshua James will duplicate his award-winning cocktails including classic Tiki drinks and cocktails such as Paloma and Pimm’s Cup.

Happy Hour

Happy Hour will be available daily from 3-6pm and will offer specially priced food & drinks including The Koi Burger and Pork ramen among other dishes. To cool you palate at Happy Hour cold draft beers will be $4, $7 wines by the glass and your choice of 15 cocktails at $7.

Brat Haus celebrates Oktoberfest on September 17th

Scottsdale beer garden Brat Haus celebrates the fall harvest kicking off Oktoberfest on Saturday, September 17th starting at 4pm and lasting late in to the night.  The open air beer garden will serve traditional Oktoberfest cuisine including knockwurst, schnitzel, brats and beer to chug it down with.
