Cool off this summer with Arizona wine

There’s no denying it as we’re about to embark on another hot summer here in the southwest. One of the best ways I’ve found to keep cool is to stay inside (a no brainer I know) and sip on a chilled glass of wine (another no brainer). A refreshing glass of Arizona wine should be in order and the folks at LDV Wine Gallery and Kief-Joshua Vineyards are doing their part to keep you cool.

Creamistry to open 4th location at Scottsdale Quarter

Ice cream fans in north Scottsdale will soon find out what all the excitement is about in central Phoenix, Arcadia and downtown Scottsdale when Creamistry opens its 4th location at the Scottsdale Quarter on Friday, May 26th.

Just in time for the Memorial Day weekend, Creamistry combines science & dessert as they use liquid nitrogen to flash freeze 70 plus flavors and toppings to create ice cream.

Creamistry week long specials

To introduce the neighbors to the concept, Creamistry will be offering 5 days of delicious specials starting on Tuesday the 30th. The daily specials are as follows….

TuesdayThursday, May 30-31 and June 1: Buy one ice cream, get one ice cream of equal or lesser value free.
Friday, June 2: A percentage of the proceeds earned will be donated to MASK (Mother’s awareness on school-age kids)
Saturday, June 3: Free small ice cream from Noon-2 p.m

Having it made is half the fun

The Creamistry experience starts when you choose your size or type of dessert(waffle bowl, shakes and more). Then pick your ice cream base(organic, gluten-free, non-dairy, vegan or premium) then your favorite flavor from almost 40 options ( birthday cake, sea salt or blood orange sorbet just to name a few) and to top it off pick your toppings (candy, fruit, nuts and more). Everything is then mixed with liquid nitrogen for a smoky & cool looking freezing process.

Left Coast Cellars wines perfect for spring & summer food pairing

left coast logo
Focusing on single vineyard estate grown wines is the game plan for Left Coast Cellars winemaker Luke McCollum and his team. With the release of the 2015 Truffle Hill Chardonnay & White Pinot Noir they’ve made wine wines that are lighter & refreshing and pair well with easy to make foods for the spring and summer.

The Truffle Hill Chardonnay is age sur lie for 9 months has bit of creaminess and Flinty minerals and nuances of golden apples, pears, spices and figs. Good with salads and shell fish this is what Chardonnay tastes like with it’s hair down.
Left Coast TruffleHillChardonnay-2013-trans
The White Pinot Noir is a rare find and is a deep wine despite its lack of skin color. On the nose there is cardamom, peach, pithy citrus and honey with the palate being similar but also with a hint of orange blossom and slate and mineral finish. The White Pinot Noir pairs well with salads, fish and grilled vegetables.

Both wines are from sustainable vineyards in the Willamette Valley and retail for about $24.

Summer is heating up and Blue Bell Ice Cream wants to keep you cool.

Starting this month Blue Bell Ice Cream is introducing Italian Cream Cake Ice Cream and bringing back seasonal favorites such as Key Lime Pie and Coconut Fudge to keep you cool. Italian Cream Cake is creamy vanilla ice cream with Italian cream cake, shredded coconuts, roasted pecans and a smooth cream cheese ice cream swirl.

According to general sales manager Wayne Hugo “We’ve created a flavor that not only has all the ingredients of an Italian cream cake in each bite, but there are actual cake pieces in the ice cream too. We have had lots of success with flavors inspired by cakes so we figured we might just be onto something.”

Blue Bell also offers Birthday Cake Ice Cream and Red Velvet cake which became an instant success when it was introduced last year. Hurry because Italian Cream Cake Ice Cream will be in grocers freezers until supplies last. National Ice Cream Month is coming up in July so don’t be afraid to stock up in order to stay cool. Check Blue Bell’s website www.bluebell.com. for current flavors, recipes and money-saving coupons.
